I'm putting together a part list for a replacement desktop, 1920x1080 resolution, vertical mount.

If I were to run a stock GTX 1060 vs GTX 1070 of the same make under the same conditions, would the 1070 run cooler/quieter?

Both would be about the same under load.

The quietest will be a fanless GPU eg Palit 1050Ti.

You can then get a 1070 or 1060 that runs silent at no load. The fans only spin up when you start gaming.

So it comes down to how much noise you can tolerate

The EVGA 1060 line have really quiet fans, and they will run pretty easily on 1080 resolution. I use a 1060 FTW and I never hear it spinning while it's under load, I usually use high graphics settings on a 1440 screen.

Thanks. I live in a small space, so the room heats quickly and retains noise.

extra:
The 1060 has a TDP of 120W, while the 1070 has a TDP of 150W. Mining websites claim that the 1070 is more power/performance efficient, but I have basically nothing to back the claim at the moment.
