GPU not detected

Just built my first pc specs

I7
Z270 pro mono
2x8 corsair vengance ddr4 3000
550evga supernovia g3 PSU
Evga geforce Gtx 1080 SC


Basically had everything set up and ready I've gone to turn the pc on and although everything turns on (fans move GPU lights up) the monitor has no signal. Now my led doc is telling me that my GPU is not detected but I've connected the display port to the GPUs to monitor and I've connected the 6+2 pin into the GPU but nothing is coming up on the screen I'm confused about it all... I need help! Thank you

You didn't put down what make and model your MOBO is. Have you got the GPU in the first PCI-E 3.0 X16 slot? If not try moving it. Also when testing initally, use the DVI connection to your monitor - if you can.
