[SOLVED] GPU not displaying anything on the monitor

Hi, I recently bought a R7 250 off the used market. It has a DVI and a DP port, since I don't have a DP port on my monitor I decided to buy an adaptor, DP input to HDMI output, it came today and I tried it but it doesn't show any signal on my BenQ E2220HD monitor.
Are there any fixes for this?

you will need to troubleshoot the graphics card and the adapter to verify which may be causing the issue.
if it's a bad graphics card then testing the adapter through it won't be possible though.

try through DVI-D cable.

there are many thousands of cheap, low quality, non-functioning adapters and cables available out there so you have to be careful when shopping.
make sure there are MANY other customers commenting through reviews on how it worked in your exact situation before purchasing.

I currently don't have a DVI-D cable but a DP to VGA adaptor is coming tomorrow, if that doesn't work then I can buy a DVI-D cable tomorrow as well.

The adaptor also has lots of good reviews amazon stating that it does work and is functioning correct. Could there just be a fault with the graphics card?

I can just use a DVI-D cable without an adaptor as it'll connect through a DVI-I right?

you will find many malfunctioning or dead components for sale as "used".
many times the seller will just disappear after the transaction has completed.

you may actually just want to start investing in something better.
i imagine it's still using an outdated HDMI revision also.

Hi, it does offer DVI-D, it's just the graphics card has a DVI-I port. And I'm not sure how old the monitor actually is but was released before 2010 I'm presuming. So I was just wondering if it would be possible to do DVI-I input to DVI-D output.

the only difference between the two interfaces is that "I" offers both analog & digital signal while "D" only offers digital.

so if the display is digital and the card offers both it shouldn't pose any issue.

Yes, I just searched up, the GPU does support digital with its DVI output. I'll wait for the DVI cable to come and then I'll try it out.
