My cousin bought a prebuild and wanted to upgrade some parts, but when he ordered the graphics card it didnt fit in the case itself, would it be fine to run the extension cable outside of the case and have the graphics card on anti static paper? Would there be any drawbacks from this?

Solution
Looking up that PC, it seems to have a small 240 Watt PSU, meaning at most you can run a GTX 1050 safely off the PSU inside the PC. As far as using the cable it would be fine, but as I said I recommend making some sort of stand/mount/enclosure for the card.
Chances are if the card doesn't fit int eh case then the power supply will be inadequate anyway. What PC does he have exactly, and what card is he trying to put in it?

But if you do want to proceed I wouldn't recommend having the card just laying on a anti static bag.

You can make external GPU enclosures or docks fairly cheap with wood, old pc parts, even 3d printed plastic. But I would recommend making something to mount the card to. Just search Google for examples or instructions

This is the PC..

and this is what idea is, to run this outside the computer. Using what ever makes it more protected to run.

and this is the graphics card.

Yeah thats exactly what he is going to be using, and is there a certain stand/enclosure to buy or would he have to make one himself?
