i have a msi 1080 z inserted into an asus z170a in fractal r5 case. when i inserted the video card into the pci, the card is abit at an angle inclined towards the lock so at the other end of the card where it meets the left side of the pci insertion area, the gold plated area goes in only half way, itried using different pci but it gave the same result. the card seems to be working fine when the computer is on.. should i regard this as normal?

Solution
If the card when inserted to the pci-e card slot of the motherboard is raised slightly at the bracket and of the card where it is screwed to the system case.

What will be stopping it from sitting flush at the front end of the card is the tongue of the bracket at the bottom of it.

If you built the system yourself.
It will because the motherboard has been fitted and tightened to close to the edge of the system case where the cards bracket is screwed to the system case.

You should have if you take the Pci-e graphics card first of all and looking down to where the edge of the motherboard is pointing to the back of the system case a 1 to 2mm gap between the edge of the motherboard and the internal back of the system case when looking down...

If not simply loosen all of the retaining screws slightly that pass through the motherboard to the mounting plate of the system case.
Foce the board with slight preasure towards the front of the system case to create a 1 to 2mm gap between the motherboard and system case on the back edge.
While doing so tighten the motherboard mounting screws tight.

The card with then drop in the Pci-e card slot of the board flushly without the gold finger contacts showing.

I urge you to do this if the case because with the card uneven and not flush in the Pci-e card slot of the board there is a high possibility of the card being short circuited and damaged.

Solution
thanks for the reply i didnt really say this elaborately but there is a plenty of gap space between the mobo and the back of the case where i can see through it and the pointy ends of the mounting bracket on the gpu are able to insert themselves into holes of the case when i see the case from the back side(back of the mobo side) i have another computer that i had built before and the gpu in that computer seems to install at the same angle as the current gpu theres always a small gap in the gpu-pcie insertion area but the gold plates are not showing at all on either of the cards. ialways tried to switch the cards between the two pc setups and i got the same results so im inclined to conclude that this is normal. i do not know how to explain this that well but in the pci slot closer to the bracket side, theres a divide which matches with the card's gap in the gold platingi would say and when teh card is inserted i can see the gap but not the gold plating im guessing this is fine too...
