Please keep it to 1 thread.
Hi guys. A friend of mine recently gifted me a Gigabyte Radeon RX 580, i tryed to install it in my pc, but my 3GO PS502SB 500w PSU doesent seem to have a 8 pin connector for the gpu. Is there any way to buy some kind of adapter or do i have to replace the PSU ? I would like to mention that i dont have much experience with PC-s, so sorry if this is a dumb question.

you don't want to use 3rd party cables unless they are specifically noted to work with this particular PSU and have some guarantee/warranty included by their manufacturer.

you don't ever want to use cable converters unless they are specifically offered by the PSU manufacturer,
and even then they may cause problems.

i've never encountered a 3GO unit before.
i would guess it is some generic garbage, unless someone else here can offer some more insight into the manufacturer.
i would recommend replacing it with something reliable that offers necessary connections for modern components.

I also made a picture to clarify things. I do have those 2x4 pin connectors, i wonder if there is a connector wich can make those into a single 8 pin one ?

The truth is that i wanted to test the GPU if its fully functional or not before buying a new PSU. Can you recommend any PSU for me btw:
MOBO: MSI B450M-A PRO MAX
PROC: AMD Ryzen 5 3400G
And the GPU mentioned above RX580?

I do have those 2x4 pin connectors
those shown are old molex/IDE connections,
nothing to do with the 8pin PCIe connectors modern components would use.
Can you recommend any PSU for me btw
look up some PSU tier lists online,
and check with this thread here @ Tom's.

find something available to you in your price range from a tier relative to your usage scenario in those lists
and ask about them in that thread if you're concerned about actual quality.

Hello. I would like to buy a PSU for my setup but im a bit confused.
GPU: Gigabyte RX580
MOBO: MSI B450M-A PRO MAX
PROC: AMD Ryzen 5 3400G
RAM: G.SKILL Aegis 16GB DDR4
I want to replace the proc with a Ryzen 7 5800x in the near future so i want a PSU wich will be good for that also. I was thinking about a Corsair CX550 or CX650. What do you guys think its a good or a bad choice?

I was thinking about 80-100$, but closer to 80$ i guess since the whole setup is kinda old and cheap. Im located in Romania, there is a local site emag wich i was thinking about. I could buy from ebay also maybe but shipping does cost quite alot and it takes some time also.

There you go:

https://ro.pcpartpicker.com/product...00000000,2200000000000&sort=price&e=4,2&p=0,2

I think something like this, should be enough for your system:
https://ro.pcpartpicker.com/product...onze-certified-atx-power-supply-cp-9020277-na

But if you plan to update your system later on, I would go bigger (+watts):

There are other decent models in the pcpartpicker list. You can cross-reference with psu-tier list.
