So I unplugged my pc to put in a gpu, and when I booted it up the gpu was running at pcie x8 speed. I then restarted my pc and looked in bios which said it was running at x16. Then i booted back into windows and then it said Im using x16 speeds. This seems odd? should I be worried about it? I tried unplugging the pc again and booting it up and it still is running at x16 speeds

Download this tool, GPU-Z. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

And check what does it say under the "BUS INTERFACE" entry. Post a screen here. ALSO,, click on the "question mark" next to the Bus Interface entry, and click on "Start RENDER TEST".....

Doing this will put some slight load on the GPU. Check again what does it say under the 'Bus interface' entry.

Which Motherboard is that ? Full PC specs ? Did you insert the GPU on the primary PCI-express slot of your MOBO ? GPUs won't always run on the full speed.
