GPU stops working after every reset

My GPU works fine; it runs like it should until my pc goes to sleep or I reset. When my pc turns back on, I get a red light on my motherboard indicating that there is something wrong with the GPU. The only temporary solution I found so far is taking out the card and putting it back in - this works until the PC is turned off again. I'm assuming that the video card is just loose..? But if it is, why doesn't it stop working randomly instead of after every reset?

Solution
Make sure all your drivers are fully uninstalled.

Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Display Adapters > Right-Click your Graphics Card and select 'Properties > Click the 'Drivers' Tab > Select 'Uninstall'.

Control Panel > Programs and Features > Add / Remove Programs > Check for any programs that are Graphics Card drivers or directly related to them > Right-Click and select 'Uninstall'.

Download the latest (non-Beta) drivers for your Graphics Card from AMD or Nvidia's website.

Reboot your machine.

Install those drivers.

Reboot again.

That should rule out a driver problem.
