I've seen alot of threads about this but not exactly what I'm looking for

Since recently I'm having some trouble with my PC. It all started when I installed Skyrim. I was playing for about 25min and all of a sudden my PC started making a loud noise and went to sleep mode. I had to use the power button to start my computer again, clicking didn't work. Then I tried again and after 5min of gaming it happened again. Restared my computer and watched some Netflix but after a few minuted the same... My power plan is already on high performance by the way.

Never had this problem before so after a bit of searching the internet I thought maybe my CPU got overheated so I downloaded Core Temp but my CPU temp didn't go over 67°C. So maybe it could be my graphics card.

I can find alot of programs that measure the temperature but I need one that logs and automatically saves them like Core Temp which logs the temperature every 10 seconds, because I have to shut my computer down everytime it happens.

I'm not sure this is what's wrong so I'm open for suggestions.

Thanks!

well hwmonitor64 has a select for logging ? I never yet used it [logging part] but I can quick to see ?

look at screen shot to see the ''logging start''

http://www.hwinfo.com/

also gpu-z does for sure for your gpu

Thanks alot, going to try them when I get home

hwinfo64 I tried the loggind and it saves as a csv. file and I guess has no way or letting you read it with out a 3ed party viewer ?? [how silly and why like that ?] its a great program but never knew that part about it

http://www.hwinfo.com/forum/Thread-Online-CSV-Log-Converter-Viewer

don't know what to say there on all that ?

I do know gpuz saves a running log as text file and easy to pull up and read ?? [I use it frequently ]

I guess with hwinfo64 you add this to it ? ''GenericLogViewer''

http://www.hwinfo.com/addons.php

found from this forum page ?

http://www.hwinfo.com/forum/Thread-LogViewer-for-HWINFO-is-available

your call on that

interesting that it also seems to work with gpu-z as well ?? hmmmmm.... [newer 3.1 version ]

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/logviewer-for-gpu-z-available.185299/

I downloaded it and scaned it seems clean but just don't know I don't see any bad reports on it as like malware yet

good luck

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD5850
RAM: 6GB Triple-Channel DDR3
Motherboard: ASUS P6T SE

Hmm, either way it's strange behavior. Throttling is just throttling, whether it's on the CPU or GPU the clock speed will drop and that is it. I suspect something else may be at play here. Try and get your logfile working first, I don't have much experience there as I run a dual screen setup and I run that stuff there.

The GPU temp didn't went over 75°C

I don't get it, since I installed Skyrim I have this problem, before that everything was fine

seeing now win 10 sums a lot up to me ?

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1013093/

then what driver do you or are you using for that AMD card ? don't know what to read in to on that here ? then no release or footnotes at all to look over as well ??

''Radeon™ HD 6000 Series, and Radeon™ HD 5000 Series Graphics products have been moved to a legacy support model and no additional driver releases are planned. ''

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows%2010%20-%2064

from ''Manually Select Your Driver'' with your info from here

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

so its a use at own risk or not really supported ??
good luck

I'm using AMD Catalyst 15.7.1, never had problems with it.

But I'm not sure that my GPU is the problem, I downloaden a benchmark tool and ran it for a while and everything was fine. The max temp was 92°C. Also did it for my CPU and had no problems.

Could it be a software problem maybe?

maybe your psu is failing under load if its as old as the rest of your build ?? maybe just giving it up ??

max temp of 92c to me weather the card or the chip seems a little excessive to me ?? its not like your parts are spring chickens any more and todays stuff like programs are a lot more demanding then back then as well ..

then like as I see it your using unofficially supported stuff on that build as I pointed out so as said that's at your own risk

With unofficially supported you mean my GPU right? And it only was 90°C while running a heavy benchmark. When I'm gaming it didn't went higher as 75°C.

My PSU is a OCZ 700MXSP 700W.

You're right that my build is pretty old but I never had any problems with it, they started as soon as I started playing Skyrim and I don't think that that could have effect on my hardware, I could be wrong though...

do you see your board on that supported for 10 from asus ?? or any 10 support listed from asus ?? you see then 5850 is in legacy at amd ?? from that AMD link for the 10 driver notice these no foot notes on anything as in supported hardware or nothing as you get from drivers with footnotes for any modern card ??

and yes I would suspect that may be failing '' OCZ 700MXSP 700W '' a few of us had them older ocz units and failed over the years there good wile they last but may not last long if its around 4 years old I would look at it

[failed]
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2008/11/12/ocz_700w_modxstream_pro_power_supply/9#.VstkerfnaHt

thing is you see all that go to 10 and then quickly go or try to go back to there older OS's ..

your cards dated and been moved to legacy new drivers focus on latest cards even with my older 7850 I still run 13.12 drivers on it cause the latest ones aint so good and see issues I never see with the older 13.12 ??

heres your board from asus last ''full'' support was for win -7 all that's offered for 8 and 8.1 is bios and nothing as far as drivers ??

to me all you now got going is a lot of fingers crossed and hope for the best
