GPU: Galax 2070 Super
OEM vBios: 90.04.76.40.E7
Flashed vBios: 90.04.76.40.90

CPU: 7800x3d
Mobo: Gigabyte B650M K

Been having GPU crashes for a few weeks, temps hitting 90 in gpu intensive tasks.
Only recently noticed fans not running under load, tried to fix in afterburner & in galax software however i am unable to control the fans in either.
I attempted to flash a MSI vbios to see if that would allow for MSI Afterburner to control fans, nothing.
GPU has been reseated multiple times.

Unsure where to progress from here in the troubleshooting process, are the factory fans dead?

When the card starts to get warm give the fan little spin and see if it will stat working. More then likely the fans have died. Ive had to replace all 3 fans on my 2080 ti this past year that i gave to my brother.

You also dont need a msi bios on your card to use the MSI afterburn software.

I figured MSI bios wasn't required, just trying random shit lol

Got the GPU running at 70c and gave all 3 fans a spin, nothing from any of them.

Looks like I'll be replacing these fans 😀
edit: any recommendations for where to buy compatible fans? the galax 2070s triple fan i have has 90mm fans

You mentioned spinning 3 fans, but both vBIOS versions you listed are for dual fan cards. Using the wrong vBIOS can lead to other issues like over volting the card for it's capabilities.

Can you post the exact model you have? It should be listed on a sticker on the bottom of your graphics card.

Also, you can get fans for other cards/brands as long as they have the correct mounting positions for the screws and wiring plug.

Since my last post i have reseated all the fan headers on the card, rebooted and reseated a few times with varying success, and now they work?

Before my first post, MSI Afterburner did not have the "fan" submenu in the properties, now it shows and actually responds to my fan curve?

On the cards PCB (im not sure if the picture referenced is the exact pcb but its the closest i could find) there is 2 4pin fan headers "fan-s" & "fan-m" , originally when i took the card out i made sure these 2 were firmly connected, in todays troubleshooting adventure i saw a 6p header and decided to give it a reseat, no idea what it is but i think thats what fixed my issue? (img below)

I am still running the 2 fan MSI vBios, should i flash back to the original bios or leave it as is?
