Yes, those cards will work in CF.
Yes they will work fine on that MB.
I would not trust that PSU with those 2 cards. It is not a very good quality PSU. But if you want to chance it, the +12V rails should be sufficient.

Rosewills are mostly good PSUs. Newegg's in-house brand. The HIVE is one of the better series. I have had several on the builds I have done for myself and others. In fact, I have the HIVE 750W in my 2nd machine now. That 650W will be adequate for 2 x hd7850s. And since each hd 7850 only requires one 6 pin cable, you are good there too.

So, I have the new 7850 card, and have installed it alone first to be sure that it works...alas, I got a black screen. So then I took it out and reinstalled the visiontek one that I already had...and I get these strange vertical corrupted-looking vertical bars as its posting, only to turn completely blue after the windows logo. Ive reseated the ram, cpu, removed all unnecessary hardware and attempted both pcie ports. When I tried the new one again it now does the same thing (vertical bars) I updated to the latest beta bios to no avail....

I am now posting from said computer running onboard hd3000 video and it works fine.

Did my mobo die?

Wow. Lucky to have a friend that allowed you to use his card as a Ginnie pig after your 2nd card died. Did his card also require a 6 pin connector?

We actually tested a Radeon HD 5750 first since we didn't care if it crapped out. Once that worked we tried his Geforce 660 OC Edition which has one 6 pin connector.

Very strange that the problems all started after you swapped cards. I would suspect damage to the MB from the new card, except for the fact that the friend's card worked OK. Have you tried your original HD 7850 again to see if its working now? Or did you RMA it too?

I retried the original and it does the same thing, both cards are somehow damaged, Im confounded by the timing. But i guess stranger things have happened than 2 nearly identical cards having the same failure at the same time, maybe I have gremlins.

Will do, it'll probably be a week or two until the replacements bet back. I'll try them one at a time to make sure before I Crossfire.

Excellent! I've never heard of 2 cards failing at the same time. Maybe one bad card fried itself and the other one when it powered up.
