Hey I am still a n00b when it comes to hardware compatibility. I want to upgrade my graphics card to a newer Geforce GTX but I am a bit unsure if my motherboard will be compatible.

I have an MSI H31M P31 (G3) Intel H61 (B3) uATX motherboard.
Looking online I am getting mixed messages on whether my motherboard can handle a newer card. I know I have a PCIe x16 2.0 slot but I am unsure if it will support newer cards (say the 900 series GTX).

Can anyone help? I really want to learn more.

Current Specs:
GeForce GT 640 2GB
750W Corsair Power Supply
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM (2x4GB)
Intel Core i&-3770 Quad Core 3.40 GHz, 8MB Cache

Solution
Yes, you can run newer cards with your mobo. Pcie platform is backward compatible and difference between 3.0 and 2.0 has little effect.
