Greetings esteemed Tom's community. It seems it is time once more to buy a new GPU.

My EVGA GTX 760 just went kaput, in just one year. The good news is that it is still under warranty. So, I plan to have it refurbed, then sell it for whatever I can get for it. Even so, I don't want to spend a ton of money on a replacement; under $200. Other than an upgrade on performance, my main concern is stability.

A quick scan of Newegg reveals the following options. Thoughts, other suggestions?

MSI GTX 950 - $149

MSI GTX 960 - $179

EVGA GTX 950 SC+ - $129

I am open to any other suggestions within parameters.

Current build:
Win 7 Home Prem.
MOBO: ASUS M5A99x Evo
CPU: AMD 8350 - Liquid cooled
RAM: 8gb (on one stick, thanks to the other one crapping out early)
GPU: EVGA GTX 760
PSU: Corsair AX760 750watt Platinum

Firstly I would look at comparisons of the 760 vs a 960 I am not sure about the performance difference as I haven't looked into it.

I'd also consider looking at a R9 380, it is a direct competitor to the 960 and beats it out in most games. There are a heap of forums on here about the 960 vs the 380.

But whatever you do, try and get the 4gb version of the 380 or 960, it's certainly worth it.

I would go with a GTX 960 but do not get the 2 gb version. I have a 760 2 gb and often times it is not the processing power that slows my frames it is the vram or lack there of. With new games coming out that take tons more VRAM I would recommend getting a card with atleast 4 gb. I would suggest the 960 4 gb but you could also look at the AMD options that are equally viable.
Hope this helps! :)

I recommend this a lot more than those GFX cards.

R9 380. It's extremely good for maxed out 1080p and good framerates.

It costs $1 less than your budget.

Hope this helped! :)
