Greetings guys. Im thinking right now for upgrading my gpu and eventually my cpu. I’m currently running an intel 3060 6gb nvidia from 2015 and a ryzen 5 3600. I would like to build a unit for 2k gaming, with my 144 hz monitor, and keep the cpu if possible. A friend of mine says that I should wait for the 5060 to arrive but I believe it won’t be enough to run games like gta vi or expedition 33 in high settings at 2k, I’m more of a 9070 and kind of guy. Thoughts?

What are your full system specs, including make/model/age of the PSU, and what about budget?

Short answer, if nothing else is in need of replacement, a bios update, with a 5700x3d dropped in and a 9070, will get you there for what you want to do.
I have a 550 Corsair gold psu but I guess it will need upgrade too, and a b450 gigabyte mobo.

What kinds of games do you play?
Some, like sims, strategy and MMO tend to be cpu limited.
Fast action games tend to be GPU limited.

Try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

850w PSU gold. Seasonic focus

9070 amd or 9070xt

16gb X2 ram

5700x3d with a cooler with at least 6 heatpipes or water cooling 240 aio. These chips run hot due to 3d cache stacking.

Or Ryzen 5700x no 3d cache but still a good CPU for 2k

Depends on your whole budget.

Warzone, the upcoming GTA Vi, some heavy titles, some not so much, maybe Throne and Liberty. A futureproof rig, as much as it can be, with an 600-700 gpu budget.
