Recently ive been having really bad frame drops, im talking 300-400fps drops. The game that this seems to happen the most on is Valorant. Even just in the practice area in Valorant there are spots where my game will be running at 500+ fps with a 90% GPU usage then i would go to another area and it drops to 100-130 fps with a usage of 30-40% GPU usage . Ive also noticed that the more things i have opened in the background the worse it gets. For example just having Twitch running in the background will drop my fps by about 20.
Things ive ruled out so far are temps, i know my temps areent the problem as my GPU runs between 60-70c which is normal. So is my CPU which runs at a max of 60-65c while gaming. Also i just got a new motherboard as my old one died (and yes this issue was also happening in my old motherboard). Ive also tested a new PSU i have as a backup and still have the same problem, so i know its not the PSU. I have done a clean install of my drivers also. My control panel settings are all set to performance.
I dont know if this is normal but my RAM usage doesnt go past 33-34%. Maybe this is not normal? This started happening in the last few months and it keeps getting worse. Ive had my frames drop to 30 while gaming on Valorant. Any help is appreiciated.
Edit 1: 1 hour into writing this thread and i am now getting blue screen of deaths. Also something strange is happening when trying to open Apex on steam, it just kept saying launching and would stop and try again. My windows on chrome also keeps crashing and im getting the aw snap! error. Ive been keeping track of my temps and they all are normal.
Edit 2: So i've done more testing before the things i mentioned in edit 1 i saw that my RAM was at 2133mhz so i decided to overclock it to 3600mhz. After i did this i was getting blue screens left and right. I then decided to undo this. Then i ran a windows memory diagnostics tool scan using cmd and it says there was a hardware problem detected. It said i was going to get me an error code after restarting but it never did and it just went stright to windows. Maybe this is a RAM issue? i just dont see how this coud be causing low GPU usage and low FPS in game. I have a 2 monitor set up and ive noticed that when i turn off one of my monitors my pc seems to have trouble to sync back up to just one monitor. One time i did this while Apex was open and it just crashed.
