GPU usage drops during gaming and it causes FPS drops

Hello!

My GPU usage is dropping from 99% to 50% all the time in every game I play and I'm getting FPS drops. I have tried everything I can. Please help me 🙁

i7-7700K
GTX 1070 [OC]
16GB DDR4 2666MHz [XMP]
Windows 10 Home 64bit

Hello! My GPU usage is dropping constantly from 99% to 50% while playing games. I experience this problem in every game I play. This causes HUGE FPS Drops and I don't know what to do. I have tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to help. I have ran MSI Kombustor for 50mins now without any problems and GPU usage stays at 99% all the time. Please help me! Thank you for your time.

I have tried:

Delete and clean install nvidia drivers (newest and older ones)
Reinstall games and steam
Updated BIOS
GPU with normal clock speeds
Uninstalled windows 10 updates
etc.

Check both cpu and gpu temps. Whichever of these two throttles, will cause a drop in usage and in fps. 7700k is known for thermal issues. You should have a look at that. Monitor temps while heavy gaming. You can use Afterburner's Riva Tuner and double check cpu temps with Real Temp

GPU temp: 64c
CPU temp: 55c

As stated from the other thread, your stuttering is related to Steam rewards not working well with the new Nvidia drivers. As far as usage drops, that is normal. You get usage drops because the CPU is holding things back, which in turn, holds back the GPU.

Since the posts were combined, it's here. Usage drops is 100% normal. Every system is always either going to be CPU or GPU limited when v-sync is off. If your system is balanced, it will switch between the CPU and GPU often, depending on the game and what is happening. When the GPU is the limiting factor, the CPU is not working as hard as it could, and when the CPU is holding back things, the GPU usage drops. That is totally normal. If your friends say they never get GPU drops, then they are not telling you the truth, or their GPU is weaker than their CPU (this is all in relation to your resolution).

I know everything you said though, but GPU usage drops like this isn't normal.

Your stutters may not be normal, but the lowest the FPS drop in the first minute at least (I'm not watching for 6 mins), is 250 with ~60% usage. That is very normal in a game like that, at FPS that high.

recording from pc where u get stutters will not get recorded
1) video has only 60fps, so missing frames wont be visible
2) even if u limit your fps to 60, video recording can smooth it out so u wont see it on video, cause screen gets 60 frames, just with different timing between frames

so...record it externaly, use phone/camera
try to match your ingame fps to your recording device (like 30fps in game for 30fps camera)

When I'm benchmarking my system using 8 cores I get really bad FPS drop and my GPU usage goes down to 50%. When I'm bencmarking my system using 7 cores my GPU usage stays stable 100%. What is wrong? :/ Is it possible to lose 1 core if it has died etc? Please help me fast 🙁

CPU temp: 78c under 100% load on CPU and GPU
GPU temp: 71c under 100% load on CPU and GPU

Hello! When I benchmark my GPU everything works fine, but when I benchmark my GPU and CPU at the same time my GPU usage drops down to 19%. What is this? I think it's my PSU that has become unstable. Every component is 1 year old. I'm getting the same problem in every game too but not when I benchmark ONLY my GPU. Thanks guys!

Start HWINfo and let it run. Then benchmark the CPU/GPU.

After....look at the sensor information in HWInfo.

You will see how high and low your positive voltages went.

If they ventured beyond 5% of nominal....it's your PSU.

My GPU dropped from 200W to 112W when i started CPU stress test? My PSU is the problem?
