Hi all,

Recently i played a game of battlefield 3, when suddenly i started to get random screen freezes every 15/20 seconds, for like 1 second. I looked into my MSI afterburner, and i saw that my GPU Usage has drops every time. This problem started randomly, i didn't do an upgrade or something, and it had never showed up before. I have tried different games like crisis 3, league of legends, gmod, benchmarks. The problem only shows up in games like crisis 3 and battlefield (single and multiplayer), and not in games like league of legends, gmod, and benchmarks.
I have searched all over the internet but no solutions found.

System:
Intel i5 4440 stock cooler
Asus Z87-K
MSI Geforce GTX 760
1 TB WD Black
8 GB ram 1600
Corsair CX 600 watt
Windows 7

All help is welcome! =D
Thanks

Solution
Gratz, glad we found a solution. Though had you said you had a game booster running.... would've solved so much sooner 😛
It may have disabled background processes needed for stability or drivers even

So i played a bit of skyrim today, with afterburner turned off, no problems at all. Than i saw your post and started playing a game of battlefield 3, i played on a full 64 player server with good ping (28) on Metro, not a very big map. The freezes were still apearing, and after 40 min, i tabbed out and took a screenshot of HWmonitor. i played a bit of singeplayer battlefield too, and the problem was still apearing, but less than in multiplayer.

Results after 40 min of a full 64 man server:

I thought the high temps of the mobo were too high?

Which drivers? nvidia drivers or mobo drivers or both?

on a side note, my hwmonitor also flashes my fan speeds between all normal/actual speeds to 3598RPM for a split second, every few seconds.... glitch
Though my motherboard current/min temps do show actual temps unlike yours posted, don't worry about the mainboard max temps shown

Ok, thanks =)

I will reinstall my drivers tomorrow, and give an update!

If you mean BF4 multi-player, there are quite a few servers around with a good amount of lag that can account for what look to be freeze ups. One of my favorite TDM servers started doing this around a month ago and I know there is a clan war going on with two particular clans by which even automated admin messages from one clan's servers are telling players to expect lag due to DDoS attacks caused by members from the opposing clan.

Do you get the little freezes in single player or just multi-player? What are your game settings? Resolution? AA? Do you have the capability to log the frame rate somehow during BF4? You can enable this through Geforce Experience without any issue.

I get it in sp and mp, and the problem is apearing in crysis 3 singleplayer too. Battlefield is running on max settings, with around 70 fps.

If i press reset, it goes on 100.

So i saw someone say on a forum to remove msi afterburner, so i tried, and when i removed the program, restarted, started playing the drops were gone! so i was happy, went to school, came back, turned my pc on and started my skype etc. , started playing battlefield with friends, and the problem was there again. =(
so any help is welcome!

I have the same problem since I patched the Final Stand DLC early-access I have for owning Premium Edition, haven't got a single screen freeze before that, and running the game at Ultra. It's kind of weird it's not really a screen freeze, it's like a 1 second bug that acts as if I didn't have a keyboard nor a mouse, so my character keeps moving forward but I can't turn, aim, shoot, or stop moving, then after a second everything is back to normal, and this happens every 20 seconds or so, it's driving me mad lol.

worth a try, after some snooping around, some have found different things to work for the same type of issue

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/389193-33-games-freezing-seconds-second

-try uninstalling MSI Afterburner, HWMonitor/PROwinx64 any other hardware monitoring tool you pc did not originally come with, reboot, see if it persists
-do the games concerned run in safe mode? if so, try that to rule out driver/software issues. If it persists in safe mode then it's most likely a hardware issue (that is, if the game can run in safe mode)

Ensure Nvidia Control Panel / GPU settings are all at default.
Monitor refresh rate at its default frequency, most often 60Hz along with Vsync on (refresh rate capped to monitor's frequency ) ((if your monitor runs at 60Hz, then you can only truly see 60fps while gaming))

Here's a fix for steam games
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2940316

Another post i saw stated they had their PageFile spiking (view'able in Task Manager > Resource Monitor), replacing their 7200rpm HDD with an SSD fixed their screen freezes
http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1421304-Screen-freezing-every-few-seconds-when-I-play
But lets not swerve off to buying new hardware for now

Just throwing out all possibilities on what seems to be a long time no-fix

Exactly! hopefully we'll find a fix.

Thanks for all the possibilities! i will try them, and give an update!

YEEEAAAHHH =D

So i researched the blogs you send me, and founded this solution for me:
Delete Razer Cortex/Game Booster!!!!!
The post i posted when i said the problem was gone, i launched the game without razer game booster, but then when i did again, problem came back. So today I removed the razer game booster/cortex, and problem gone!
Thanks for all the help everyone! =D

Greetzz

yeah i know, but the problem was i only used cortex which sorts your games in one list, and i didn't use the game booster fuction, but probably it still disables processes. =S
