Hi,
i have really annoying issue with my PC. During playing many games, GPU usage randomly drops to 0% (then the game freezes for a while ~2 sek to be exact) . Problem has started few years ago when I change some hardware (GPU, HDD and add SSD). I ignored this issue because i thought that is my old MOBO or CPU could be a problem here. But when I switched also this parts (CPU, MOBO, PSU, RAM) random drops of GPU usage still has been present. 2 weeks ago I change again GPU, random usage drops is still present. Last parts to change are SSD and HDD, but I can't belive that will fix my problem. I'm looking for solution for past 3 months and I found many similar topics (also many solved) but none advice is working in my case. Please, can anyone help me. It's so frustrating when you spend a lot of money on your pc build and after that You have this kind of problem.

I want to add that I tested 3 different GPU, all have same issue when they were in my pc build. So its seems that this isnt GPU issue, more like GPU is affected by something.

My PC specs:

GPU ZOTAC GTX 1080 Ti AMP! Extreme Core
CPU i7 6700k 4GHz + SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425 Malik Customs Edition
RAM 16GB DDR4 3200MHz G.Skill Ripjaws V
MOBO AsRock Z170 Extreme 4
PSU Corsair RM750X
SSD Crucial MX100 256GB
HDD Segate 1TB 3,5" 7200RPM

I doubt, because I have pretty good airflow in my PC case.
During gaming, I notice max temps:
CPU ~66*C
GPU ~70*C

If anyone have an idea what I should do, please post your thoughts. I struggle with this issue very long time and I think that if I will not fix it until Sunday, simple I will take my PC to computer service and I cross my fingers that there will be someone who help me.

I already did the BIOS update and fresh windows installation - didn't work. I will check my HDD and SSD with programs that you listed above and then post my results.

Edit: I updated SSD firmware from MU01 to MU02, for my HDD model(ST1000DM003-1ER162) i can't find newest firmware - only results was for ST1000DM003-9YN162. I will post results of this update, probably tomorrow.

I haven't Intel HD graphics in this tab. Only GTX 1080 Ti so I don't have anything to disabling.

Be careful with firmware updates, only use updates which are for the model you have. If there is none, don´t update firmware for another model.
use this to get more information about your HDD:

Checking/scanning the whole HDD with seatools is more important as well as the SSD with the crucial tool

also check the windows event viewer for "DISK" errors and other errors

I already checked for firmware updates on the site which you linked. There isn't any updates available for my HDD model. Regarding scanning/checking whole HDD and SSD. Which test should I do via dedicated tools? One by one in seatool: SMART, Short Dive Self Test, Long Drive Self Test etc. Tbh I never used any software to monitor my disk. Also, if You can give me some guide how to use Windows Event Manager, some advice for what I should to pay attention etc. I will be grateful.

I'm currently at work. I will be test everything in the evening, during my regular gaming session with friends.

Thanks a lot, I will back when I do all your recommended tests and documented the results. It's seems that those tests may take some times, so I will be post my results within 2 days I guess.

Hi,
Updating firmware of my SSD didn't work - still i have drops

I did almost all Disk tests, the last one is Long Generic which i will do tonight.

In event viewer I noticed Display warning. "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered". But i had at least four Usage drops (two are visible on the screen above) for 10 minutes playing The Division but only one event.

Also not all games have this kind of issue. When i play Siege or NBA 2k18 everything works properly (both games on HDD). For this moment, I have drops GPU usage only in games which are on my SSD disk for example: The Division, Wildlands, and very rarely in AC: Origins. Unfortunately i have Forza Horizon 3 on SSD too, and i didn't notice any GPU usage drops 🙁

When I do Long Generic tests, I will post continue post my results.

Of Course I do. 😀
They said that the first thing which they check will be SSD disk. They clone data from mine SSD to the other one and plug in different model. Maybe it's that simple and it will be works but all what I can do now is wait patiently for feedback from service.

Worst scenario came true. PC service is helpless. They even can't reproduce usage drops. I'm stay alone with this annoying issue. But I reduce his frequency in The Division switching from DX 12 to DX 11. This causes that game is at least playable. Currently if they can't reproduce issue, I will try plug in only basic peripheral devices: mouse, keyboard, power, monitor and internet stright to PC (excluding router). In the next few days I will test this connection. If I still will have usage drops in certain games, it is possible that the problem is on the games side on my configuration? But if so then why PC service cannot reproduce this.. Oh.. i have no idea what I should do. I wan to fix this but I completely don't how.
I will inform You how my test on basic connectivity will end.

Hard to say, multiplayer or singleplayer. Wildlands can be online, but I play solo most of the time, same with The Division. In both games I can noticed GPU usage drops from time to time.
When I play Rainbow Six Siege (multiplayer) or Call of Duty WWII (multiplayer) for example everything is fine. No drops GPU usage. Same with NBA 2k18 when i play local with my girlfriend or anyone else. No drops GPU usage.

3D Mark results:
https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/24083091

"GRAPHICS DRIVER IS NOT APPROVED" cause I used the newest driver 388.71 (installed it right before I ran 3dmark)

Run the Intel processor diagnostics tool
Reset bios by jumper
Uninstall any tuning tools and tools which run in the background.
Use DDU uninstaller to delete all previous drivers and install the latest driver from NVIDIA.com again.

Next step would be to check with another power supply and then another motherboard.

Within the next month. I will replace my HDD and SSD by 1TB SSD so I wait till this upgrade and if issue isn't gone then I will do this steps. Issue occurs on 2 different MOBO and 3 different PSU I dont think that I should test another. Especially that my girlfriend have my old MOBO and PSU and she doesn't has this kind of problem.
I will suspend the topic until the new disk arrive.

BTW. can you recommend some 1TB SSD? SATA, cause my M2 slot is under the PCI Express and my GPU will burned any ssd in M2 slot xD
