GPU waterblock causing the problem?

Hi,

I finally put my waterblock on my graphics card yesterday. I can't remember the name of them both except to the say the card is a mid-range (I'll find out after I go home tonight and update if need be) one.

The problem is, a shortwhile after the PC manages to boot into Windows, it switches itself off. When I switch it back on, there is no message to say Windows did not shutdown properly but this time the screen will just go black and continue running instead of switching itself off again.

I thought it might be because the system detects the fan's card is not connected and shuts down as a precautionary measure but I've tried it with the fan connected with the same result.

I'm wondering if it is because the waterblock is touching some component which it shouldn't be but can't see what that can be. If I was to put the stock fan back on instead then it works.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Apologies, I thought I had closed this thread sometime ago.

Just to let you know that the problem was to do with the screws for the water block!

They were too long, therefore the block didn't actually press tight enough to the GPU and so took no time to overheat and produce the symptoms above.

Had to order some generic screws and hey presto no problems.
