I'm curious as to which of the above CPU's I should get if I'm planning on using a dedicated graphics card. At first I wasn't aware that the 2200g had integrated graphics, so I was thinking about getting that one because it's the 'newer version'. But now I'm not sure, they cost about the same, so whats the catch? because they seem very similar.

The one thing to note is the if you get the first gen Ryzen motherboard then it may need an update to recognize the 2200g. If you haven't already bought the motherboard then you may want to consider buying the newer gen motherboard so you won't have that problem.

In answer to you other question, at 1080p 60hz gaming, the videocard will be the deciding factor. Both CPUs will be close enough in performance as to be the same for all practical purposes.

This is the mobo I'm highly leaning towards (if not something similar) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813144019 but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to know what gen it is. I just know for sure it will work with 1st gen ryzen because it is am4.

If I end up going with the 2200g and it needs a bios update, I'll end up needing a 1200 anyway right? so as long as the difference between the two isn't too significant is it just the safe call to go with the 1200?

I decided to check MSI's website and it says the b350 is gen2 ready https://msi.com/Motherboard/B350M-GAMING-PRO.html

but I suppose that's only for the newest stock

Anyway thanks for recommending the b450, I'll consider it against the b350.
and I'll choose your answer as the solution :]
