GPU's and the meaning of minimum requirements

I just ran the analyze your pc feature on the Invidia website for Witcher 3.
It says that my GTX660 meets the minimum requirements but thats its below the recommended requirements.

It recommends a GTSX770 or higher. Does this mean the game would run like crap on the GTX660?

It pretty much means that your system can run the game. You may have to turn some settings down to run it at higher fps (as with any game)...but they are saying that the game will run well enough to be playable and enjoyable.

It means your computer is just good enough to play the game at the lowest settings and resolution while getting a average of 30fps, Not steady 30fps. You can play the game but the experience will be severely diminished.

Recommended specs are Hardware needed to play the game comfortably with medium/high settings with a average above 30fps or equal to and better than the Console version.

It means that the performance would be ideal with the GTX 770 and above, but that it would run alright with the GTX 660 and above.

You might have to play at 30 fps but it will be very playable.

The minimum requirements often vary on what they mean, depending on the dev's. Sometimes it may mean that lowest settings only gets you near 30 FPS average, but other times the minimum requirements will do much better than 30 FPS at the lowest settings. It is just a rough guide to let you know that you can play the game at low settings, but unfortunately, how well will vary from game to game.

Just as recommended requirements doesn't always mean you can play it on Ultra. Often the recommended is for settings below Ultra (or what ever their highest setting is) and in some games, they figure 30 FPS, while others figure 50ish FPS.

It can be a crap shoot.
