GPU's too cosy ?

I just bought another 980ti and was hoping to have x3 GPU's in my system. 2x 980ti’s & 1x970.
I have a Sabertooth X79 Mobo and it has x3 PCI slots. Great, I can drop 3 GPU’s in there no problem or so I thought.
So here’s the issue - The 2x 980ti’s sit nicely but the 970 at the bottom is right up against my 980ti’s fans. There’s maybe a few mm space at some points so I’m pretty sure I’m asking for trouble.
I have currently removed the 970 from the bottom until I can find a solution, which will probably involve a new system or outboard GPU setup.
Maybe its possible to fit some kind of spacers between the bottom 2 GPU's ?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Ha! I use Octane & Redshift GPU based render engines.

Yeah they are too close really for airflow.

You need something like this, so you can mount it somewhere else
