GPUs with normal price?

So I wanted to upgrade to Rx480 when it came out but unfortunately prices almost immediately rose to levels far higher than suggested retail price.. So I waited but with Rx580 things are even worse.

I onderstand now is a bad time for GPU upgrades but Id still like to know which GPUs are good value right know. Usually AMD user but willing to consider Nvidia if that helps.

Currently running two aging HD7850s in Crossfire X (which rougly equals one Rx470 without Dx12). Had an R9 270 which is also a HD7850 but it was damaged after a water leak.
CPU is i5 4670k with a small OC, Z87X motherboard from Gigabyte, 8gb DDR3, Samsung 850EVO SSD, Win 10 x64. Platform upgrade, maybe to Ryzen, is planned not earlier than 2019 since CPU hasnt bottlenecked yet.

Lower end GPU's such as the RX 460 and GTX 1050 ti are about normal price but that will be a downgrade for you. If you can fit it into your budget I'd look at a GTX 1080 or better as I'm pretty sure in most games you could run a GTX 1080 ti with no issues.

ryzen is not an upgrade for you

just drop in a 4790k and you are set for a very long time



+1 as stated above just the very low end, and the high end are unaffected by price gouging

GTX1060 is somewhat comparable to a RX-480 Rx570, RX580 on toms gpu hierarchy list.

Nvidia will usually take 75w less than amd.

You may win fps benchmarks with cf, but your gameplay should be better with a single GTX1060.
You will be less prone to stuttering, screen tearing and non support in some games.
