You are making a configuration for gaming build, and the geforce card family now days comes with GDDR5 pcie support. So those GDDR3 doesn't go well with your build if you are planning to do some animation or whatever in 3Dmax.

If you plan to use this build for gaming and some 3D work then go with gddr5 high end graphic cards like X60, X70, X80 or above (the referred X can be 6or7or9 like 660, 670, 680etc). And most important thing is there are specific graohic cards build for those 3D applications and known as Quadro in Nvidia line and Firepro in AMD line.

Geforce are Ferrari Cars and Quadros are Trucks. Games can be run faster in Geforce but cannot take too much load for long Drive.
Quadros are Trucks which cannot run fast but can...
Considering you put those two choices out, I am going to assume you are referring to a low end card, because only low end cards have DDR3 in them anymore, and it's not going to matter. A $100 GPU is not going to help rendering that much. People spend $5000 on GPU's to render in 3DS max, a Geforce 730 or something along those lines isn't going to do much for you.

Your question doesn't even make sense. Which car is faster. One with a 4 speed transmission or 5 speed? Without knowing ANYTHING else about the car/GPU it's nearly impossible to say. With the cars we'd need to know engine output, weight of the car, vehicle type, etc. The DDR5 card is possibly better, but you can't really look at a single spec and know what you are dealing with.

Quadros are Trucks which cannot run fast but can take heavy load and run smoothly without sweat.

If you can figure out your need then there are lot of choices for you to choose. From 600series to 900series and even Titans and Quadros.
