I am trying to spec out a Dell workstation for video editing (using Avid Express or Premiere Pro). Besides needing a video capture card, do I also need a high-performance graphics display card in order to do video editing effectively? (Dell is offering me nVidia Quadro FX 500, 1000, or 3000, or ATI Fire GL X1 128MB). Thanks for any advice you can give.

Pros like Matrox cards for 2D, but to tell you the truth the latest general purpose and low end gaming cards have such good 2D I can't see the difference. All those "professional" graphics cards are pointless for video editing, they cost more because they're PROFESIONAL OPEN GL CARDS, and Open GL is a 3D technology used in 3D modeling programs such as CADD.

Hi

Don't think the video card makes much of a difference to the video editing applications.
