You game on one, and have other things such as music, reference pages, guides, videos etc on the other.
When multitasking such as writing papers you have notes on one, the paper on the other, on here I have the thread open on one, parts and benchmarks on the other.

Its by no means needed, but it keeps monitors from going to waste.

I bought the Sapphire Tri-X OC 290, and for 1080p gaming it's great, the cooler is brilliant it's very quiet. Also the Vapor-X card is a beast too.
A 290/290X would be a really good choice for now, and with Mantle it could prove worthwhile for the future.
These cards are good value when compared against the 770/780.

So... a few questions:
Why should I get the R9 290x over the R9 290?
Does the R9 290/x run Battlefield 4 without AA on ultra (1440p)?
Is a 630W power supply enough for the R9 290/x?
A little bit offtopic: Is the ASUS PB278Q good for gaming?

How much do you think they will drop? I just discovered an online store that sells the R9 290 Tri-X for 333€, which was the best I could find.

No idea to be honest, but when the R9 series came out there was big price drops of the GTX 780 and 780 ti, and the R9 280x came out, which was basically a 7970 for much cheaper!

It won't drop that much probably, and a few € won't make the difference.
I'd rather buy it now, since the new NVIDIA series probably isn't comming out that soon either.

And please, answer my questions, I'm kinda confused

If you plan to buy 290x or 780 6gb or 780ti, I would say go. Since these cards will still be worth SLI/CF for probably another 1~2 yrs. 880 isn't a promise just keep that in mind

I just got a EVGA 770 after months of research. It's great, I'd vouch. There is always going to be something 'better' around the corner..

I just need to know, please...

To answer all your question.

R9 290x is a higher-end card compare to 290, you can find a lot of benchmarks online. Both 290 and 290x can run bf4 under 1440p without AA on ultra.

It could be a game by game case but MOSTLY just pure performance. 290x > 780ti > 290 > 780. Temperature is the concern right here, since you don't want to fail your system just because GPU spits out too much hot air to kill your CPU. AMD cards sometimes have driver issues but honestly, you play games like BF4... these big name games will always get fixed as priority. Don't worry too much about the choice between AMD or nVidia.

I highly recommend 780 from evga or msi, please buy 6gb version so you don't suffer like I do now.

If you are not overclocking (cpu/gpu), no custom loop like 2 pumps, 630w should work fine even it's a 80+Bronze. But you won't have room to add another GPU.

To answer you, yes, it is good for gaming.

The reason is because it's 27''. Therefore, TN is out of the considerraion.
The Asus monitor you posted is a PLS panel. Typically, I prefer VA panel. TN panel are theoretically the best for FPS due to its fast response rate. But the color makes you cry. PLS from Samsung closely to IPS, the downside is black contrast. VA has the best but its color is not as good as PLS and IPS. In terns of response time, they are the same.
But all above are based on they have the same LED light. I assume you will use this monitor to Game/watch movie or all those casual stuff, so if the price is good. Take it.

Two more things please take in consideration.
1. Edge thickness. Some people don't mind, but If I am going to surround 3 monitors, I want the edge to be as thin as possible. The one you pick is thick.
2. Check out those threads regarding 1440p vs 144hz for gaming

Thank you, a lot.
