I've got about 290 - 310 dollars depending on my next paycheck to spend on a graphics card and i am considering a few options. First of all i can get a 7800 gtx from a friend for 300 flat. I can get a Radeon X1800XT 256 version for 280. Or i can get a 7900 Gt for around 310 which would be pushing the budget but im sure i can manage. Now ive done my research on all of these cards pretty hefty, but i was wondering what are some of the member opinions? thanks guys.

7900gt would defenitly be the best pick in a extremetech article yesterday it said that it was the best video card for the price out of all that are out now.

well the longest thing to do but IMO the best if ur patient... buy the 7800gtx from the friend, sell it on ebay for about 400... take the 400 and buy a 7900gt and an extra memory upgrade if needed :D but then again... thats kinda a dick thing to do, and pretty lengthy, so id say just go for the 7900gt if u dont feel like waiting about 3 weeks to play...

X1800XT, it has better performance in shader heavy games...

There was a post in the forums yesterday with some bench results from oblivion with a 1800XT and a 7900GT and the x1800XT won outright.

although i didnt see the benchmarks ive heard ati cards tend to win at higher res's with AA and AF on... so depending on ur paycheck, since the ati is 20 bux cheaper than the 7900 id say get x1800xt would be a good deal if ur paycheck wasnt big enough to let u get the 7900... also depending on what res u play at and the filtering modes ud use... anything over 1280x1024 with filters on higher id say x1800xt would most likely be a bit faster, and cheaper... but if u use 1280x1024 and lower filterings the 7900gt will be a better buy... and since im pretty much undecided about the 3 id say whichever one will suit ur budget, u cant really go wrong with any of them.. but keep in mind the 7800gtx uses a lot of power... just to kepe that in mind...
