Monitor - Asus vg248qe

PSU: rm 650x Gold Corsair fully modular

CPU: i7 9700k

GPU: Gtx 970 (trying to upgrade to a 2080 ti)

Motherboard: Gigabyte B360M DS3H

2X Vengeance LPX 8GB ram sticks

Both the rtx 2080 ti and my old gtx 970 are displaying these issues.

The gtx 970 allows me to use a DVI cable to connect to my monitor, which in this case the display works perfectly.

However, recently I just purchased the 2080 ti which made me purchase a display port cable. I've tested this cable on both graphics cards and no display turns up. I also tried an HDMI cable which also gives me no display and the cables do work because I've tested them on the motherboard itself and it has given me display.

I'm looking to purchase a DVI to display port cable next, will that work? And even better yet, can someone tell me why these cables won't work for my GPUs because I'm probably doing something wrong.

*I want to note that I've done all the troubleshooting for the google search "No display monitor GPU" and other searches similar to that. I'm pretty sure my rtx 2080ti isn't "broken"

Heres a link to the display port cable I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HVDMW2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

how do you know the 2080ti isn't broken?

full system spec? include make and model of the psu
Updated the original post.

Well, I said I was pretty sure that it's not broken due to the fact that most people who complain about the RTX series breaking usually have an FE and they can still at least get 1 minute of screen time before it starts to artifact or something else. My non-FE RTX, on the other hand, cannot get a second of display for my monitor and the RGB lights up perfectly and all three fans spin until I turn off my computer. Not to mention, the same thing happens to my GTX 970 which I'm on right now. The only reason I can use my GTX 970 is because of the DVI cable which seems to be the only thing working for me.
