Hello, I own a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070. I've been having issues where my computer displays would turn off all at once, and it's becoming more frequent as of recently. It's the graphics card disconnecting as far as I can tell, the windows "disconnected device" sound plays and all my monitors turn off. The only way to get my monitors and display back is to hard restart my PC.

So far I know:
Doesn't appear to be overheating, temps are fine?
Windows Disconnect sound plays everytime, and no matter how long I wait there's no reconnection
Must restart PC to get displays back
Sometimes, the fans on my computer sky-rocket in speed when my graphics card disconnects
Typically is only happening when I play video games, if I'm just browsing the web or using non-graphically intense applications, it doesn't seem to happen.

I'll attach a GPU-Z Log for those who may request. I managed to get two instanced recorded within ~15 minutes of each other. The instances are after 2020-11-03 19:38:05. Drive link for .txt

If it's failing under stress then yes highly likely. Do you have another gpu that's power hunger you can test it with?

I don't have any other GPU's unfortunately around, I've been running this setup without issue for over a year, but it's now becoming an issue. The only addition was I recently added a new HDD to my build so maybe there's not enough power getting to the GPU??? Doubtful though as I don't think the HDD pulls enough wattage.

Highly doubtful it's your hdd. Have you tried lowering your clock speeds to see if that fixes your problem? however If it started right after you installed the hdd then it's definitely the hdd lol.

Well as of today I was running it at lower clock speeds to see if it helped, it did not and I got the same error. Now however, when I did a hard reset, the graphics card is no longer putting on displays for any of my monitors and I can’t even get past boot.

Did the card die? Or is there hope if I take it to a tech. It could not have chosen a worse time to die with inflated gpu prices

What are your system specs?
  • GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1070
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K
  • RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance
  • Mobo: Z97S SLI Krait
  • PSU: Corsair RM1000x
  • Windows 10 64-bit
I've been running the same setup for ~2 years, and it's just now giving me issues. No recent changes other than adding an HDD a month or two ago
