I bought a Dell Optiplex 960 SFF and added an EVGA GTX 1050 SC 2 GB using a PCI-E 16x riser cable. The PC worked for a few days but now the graphics card won't work. Right now, if I connect the graphics card with the riser cable to the PCI-E slot, then connect the power cable and power on the system, these things happen:
Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
- The graphics card emits a high pitched noise.
- The fan either spins or doesn't spin (Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't).
- According to Dell's Optiplex reference guide (https://www.dell.com/support/articl...ex-diagnostic-indicators?lang=en#2009_to_2012), the diagnostic lights on the Optiplex say I have a graphics card failure if the DVI cable from my monitor is plugged in; if I don't plug in the DVI cable, I get a possible system board resource and/or hardware failure.
- The card doesn't display anything on my monitor.
Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
