I just bought the components for a new build and after putting everything together I noticed that the fans on my GPU stop a few seconds after starting up the PC. Is that normal or is that a problem with the GPU?

Also, does anyone know if I need to switch from using the Integrated graphics on the motherboard to the GPU from the BIOS or that is automatic?

Here are my components:

Intel i5-6500
MSI Computer ATX DDR4 Motherboard Z170A PC MATE
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz (PC4-24000) C15 Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15)
ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 Overclocked 4 GB DDR5 256-bit DisplayPort HDMI 2.0 DVI-I Graphics Card
Corsair CX600 CP-9020048-US 600W Power Supply
Kingston Digital 120GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5 (7mm height) Solid State Drive (SV300S37A/120G)
WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX
NZXT S340 Mid Tower Case CA-S340MB-GR Matte Black/Red

Thanks in advance.

As long as your fans work when the computer fully boots, there shouldn't be an issue.
As for the switching--if you get nvidia CP/geforce experience there's a way in it to force everything through your GTX card. That being said, if you have the drivers, that should already be handled. You'll definitely notice if your programs are running off of intel HD (like if you decide to start up a game and it's running at 800x600 at 30 fps)
