Hi guys.

I have an old HP DC7600 Small Form Factor PC and i'm a total noob at getting a compatible graphics card. All i know is my mobo supports Low Profile graphics card. That's it and i don't know how to get a card for my mobo.

My specs:
HP DC7600 SFF
4GB DDR2 RAM
Intel Pentium 4 640 3.2GHZ
Intel GMA 82945G

Solution
A 5450 is bus powered so doesn't need an additional connector. That card should be fine :)

Update: The reason I was suggesting the R7 240 btw is that is the lowest spec card you can get running on AMD's GCN (latest) graphics tech.

The advantage of that is that it should get longer support in terms of updated drivers compared to the older VILW5 architecture used on the 5450. Having said that for video playback you should be ok either way.

Aditional update: The cheapest GCN lp card I can find is:
http://www.ebuyer.com/630503-sapphire-r7-250-1gb-gddr5-dvi-micro-hdmi-mini-displayport-low-profile-11215-06-20g

That is also bus powered so *should* work although that may be stretching your PSU a bit.

There is also a R5 230 available...
I want to run 720p videos on it. Without GPU, my videos stuttered super bad even at 480p! I'm running win7 home premium x86. Btw this is just a spare desktop.

EDIT: I'm planning to get a Pentium D soon to get better performance.

I couldn't find a low profile 240, only a 250 (which might be a bit too power hungry).

I would recommend getting the R5 230 low profile instead of the 5450. Technically they are the same chip however the updated version might be better supported driver wise down the road as it's part of the current range.

This model includes a LP bracket according to XFX website:

Yes I'd always go for the current generation if possible. The 230 is the same as a 5450, it won't be any good for games but should sort out your video problems.

If you can find a low profile R7 240 that might be a better option as it is much more powerful than the 230 / 5450, the only possible problem is if that power supply will keep up or not.

If you want to play that, then try and get the R7 240.

The difference in performance is massive:

R5 230: 80 Shader cores
R7 240: 320 Shader cores
