Hi everyone,

I have an HP in which I'd like to upgrade the video card. The psu is 250, but I can upgrade that as well. The motherboard is a Pegatron Carmel with 1 pciex16 slot, 3 pciex1 slots, and 1 pciemini cardx1 slot. Right now I have Radeon hd6450 in it. I'd probably spend up to 500 on the psu and video card, if it was worth it. It's mainly for gaming. Thanks!

Solution

If its a slim low profile pc than a 7750 is your best bet.

If its regular sized than the 7770 or 650 ti

you could go even higher but the PSU might struggle

450watts and you can do 7870 or 660

500 what? Euro? US dollars? Rubles? Karachi? Marks? Koronas?
Agree with imomum 7750 is best if low profile but still you will need new PSU get at least 550W.
If you have regular case well it depends on budget. So 500 ...

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it.

500 US dollars for the new psu and video card. I could possibly go up if it were really worth it.

It's an ATX case case. Height 38.81 cm/15.28 inches; width: 17.50 cm/6.89 inches; Length: 40.99 cm/16.14 inches. Bay size: 13.33 cm/5.25 inch (2) 8.89 cm/3.5 inch (2)

Hope that helps...I'm new to this. Thanks again!

Figured I'd update you guys for the heck of it. Got a Corsair CX600 and a GTX 660 and am loving the experience so far. Working wonderfully, and it's great to raise my settings and enjoy everything in 1080p! Thanks again for everyone's help.

@Rnrfantasy So you are saying the GTX 660 is working properly with your Motherboard? I have the same mobo but I have read numerous articles stating that the GTX 660 was not compatible with the Carmel Mobo by pegatron and upon booting the pc it would be stuck at the HP Splash Menu. The reason I am asking this is because I am looking into buying a new GPU, but I need to know if it will work with this mobo before purchasing. Thanks

@A-Town
I RMA 'd my EVGA gtx 750 sc because of that same issue, for me i got the blue splash screen beeps and blackness. I hate how HP does that by making their parts incompatible with most other hardware. (Also the 300W or greater power supply is a lie, the box said it was 400W used with an i7, however i have an i7 and this info would've been great to have). Anyways glad you got it working!
