I have been realizing of late that my current set up just isnt working like i want it to. I came to this site a few months back and got some progress, but didnt really follow up with it.

My specs are;
Processor; AMD FX(tm)-8100 8-core processor 2.8GHz
RAM: 8g
Graphics Card; AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
And currently rocking a 500 watt power supply that is soon being swapped for a 750 watt supply.

I am basically looking for ideas to get better graphics out of my games, better framerates for games i stream, and so on and so forth.

Any and all help will be appreciated. If im missing something, just tell me where to find it and i will post it ASAP.

Edit: I didnt make my point too clear. I am looking for upgrade ideas. I have a pretty decent budget, but dont wanna spend more than 500 smackeroos but can if need be.

Im not looking for a super computer, just one that can run much better.

Thanks

Yes, this is actually what i was mainly looking for. Im going to edit the post so better reflect my thoughts.

I am actually looking for upgrade ideas as well, should i upgrade graphics card or something else? etc etc.

Well, that 7700 is a very midrange card on what looks like an overall decent rig. Upgrading that would certainly help things considerably.

8 cores is nice, but 2.8GHz is a tad slow, especially for AMD's single thread performance disadvantage. Getting a decent aftermarket cooler and overclocking that puppy could certainly help for most games and applications that only use 1-4 threads.

500W is typically enough for most GPUs. 750W is enough for 2 midrange cards in SLI/xFire if you want... but I personally like to keep things simple with a single GPU.

But outside of a GPU and OC your system appears to be pretty top notch.

Thanks so much! I was told before to upgrade the GPU but i never followed through. Ive been scouring the markets for a good one.

Im not sure i wanna double up on GPUs juuuuust yet. Im not that tech savvy and have very clumsy, bulky hands that can make things super duper difficult. Just want to keep it simple with one better one for now.

Thanks for the tips!

if you are looking for a total system overhaul... you are pretty much on the high end already. Moving to an Intel i5 will give you a little extra gaming performance... but not that much as your main issue is the GPU not CPU power. If you are looking for a true upgrade then you want to move to a LGA2011 6 core i7 setup... but you are talking about lots of money for very little value added. Really a new GPU and OC might solve all of your problems.

The 8100 is one of the older fx series processors. I would think about getting the fx 8370. 2.8 ghz vs 4.3 ghz. That kind of speaks for itself. Oh, I almost forgot, the 8370 is also based on better architecture than the 8100. There would be a pretty dramatic increase in gaming performance. As for the graphics card, the r9 series has some great cards to look at. Perhaps a 270x or 280x? One more thing you could do is throw a ssd in there to improve general snappiness of the machine.

Yeah i was just looking at SSDs since newegg is having some nice sales.

Was checking out some pricey options, like this;

What do you guys thing? Any other suggestions or should i definatley go with one of these?

I feel like, from what im being told overall, that OCing my processor is a good choice, instead of spending more money at the moment. Sure it has to go soon, but why spend now when i can put it off for the moment.

The gtx 760 is a great card, but it only has about a month more to live. The gtx 960 is being revealed in january. It will be based on nvidia's new maxwell architecture. That means it will be much more efficient and faster than the 760 as well. I would either purchase an amd card or if you want the latest and greatest card you can get in that price range, wait for the 960. Also, keep in mind graphics card prices are going up because of high demand before christmas. Here are some cards I would go with. I am a little bias towards sapphire because of their excellent reliability. That msi card seems to be the best choice for a gtx 760 if you're set on it.

Alright thank you to everyone who has replied and helped me out along the way.

So my ultimate decision is this;
Get a new case (my is mid-tower is very cramped and ive wanted a new one anyways.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146106

Get an SSD (Faster loading? Alright!) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239045

Debating on a getting a better cooling system as well, but unsure i have the budget currently.

Thank you everyone for tips, if i did something wrong in the last 5 minutes please let me know.

Edit: Now comes to the question on if my motherboard fits the case. I think its a pci express 2.0 motherboard, but i cant tell/ System Model says its O.E.M.
