Graphics Card isn't working. (NVIDIA can't find it, nor can my monitor)

For Christmas I got an i7 and a new PSU. I installed both with minor problems but solved all those alone. Now my Graphics Card isn't registering. When I switch HDMI from mobo to GPU I get no signal. When I try to install Drivers I get a "Drivers could not find compatible graphics hardware." When I try to open old drivers that I used with my i3 i get "The platform does not support this application." The GPU lights are on and I've checked the connection to the mobo three times. Fans aren't running. My Build is as follows: i7 6700K, Geforce GTX 970, Gigabyte z170-hd3, EVGA SuperNOVA 650. Thanks in advance

Solution
Strange that plugging the HDMI into the GPU if it was in the onboard video ports works.

Usually if you install a GPU it disables the onboard video. Try the card in another PC if you've got one. Or try another slot, the one it's in maybe faulty

I've switched the ports and still nothing, I don't have other PC's to try it in. It worked before today and even before I installed new parts
