Graphics card kind of shuts down?

I have the 512MB version, which, if I remember correctly, requires a 400 watt PSU. And I installed the 64 bit version of the driver, of course.

The problem with video card manufacturers is that they refer to the total output of the PSU not just the peak power. A PSU marked as 400 Watt is referring to its peak power, not the total power output (unless otherwise peak and constant is the same).

Peak power is intermittent and not the constant output. If you run at peak power, then add a usb device like a flash memory stick, there is no power above peak so your usb drive either fails to work or your PC shuts down from the power surge.

Also with peak, everything runs hot and mnoisily, usually.

Even so, apart from that, my PC shop guy, a few years a ago (I got a Palit video card, never got it working) said that Palit was a poor design and often died rather swiftly. I was hoping it was not the case with your card.

My Palit card was purple but only 256mb with a small fan. I still got it somewhere, just keeping for reference.

I've solved that problem by using the default renderer and I haven't had any problems with it yet, so I see no reason to get another player.

The only problem remaining now is that I can't play the games I used to be able to play flawlessly, and this is my main concern.

You might have to uninstall the MadVr codec, check the Control Panel and see if itis listed and uninstallable.

Windows 7 x32 and x64 Windows Media Player provides adequate playback of most formats for audio oand video types. It's not another player, it's built-in with the OS. I only mentioned those others because I was aimlessly trying to provide alternative solutions.

Also, I'm not so sure about your 533mhz ram, it seems rather low for DDR3, it could be 1066mhz per pair and is being read incorrectly by whatever utility you used to give those specs. Those timings also seem rather odd.
