Hello there first time poster long time reader here. I have a couple of options I am thinking of but not a ton of money so just wondering which would be the better fit. First off I am a gamer and game for many hours a day playing all sorts of computer games.
I currently have a AMD Phenom II X4 965 black edition which is OC to 4.0 Ghz which on the mother board Asus M5A97 with an xfx 6770 graphics card.

I am getting 22 fps on low settings in a new game I am playing called Wildstar, yes I know its only beta but I have friends getting 100 fps easy in there so I know its obtainable. I am wondering if it would be better of my money to upgrade to a good graphics card in the 400 dollar range even with my mobo only have 2.1 pci express slot or if it would be better to get a i5 or i7 oc it and have a mobo with 3.0 pci express and get a gtx 660. Thank you so much for your time and input.

Just an option, if you can prefer:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($189.99 @ TigerDirect)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $429.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Will exceed bit of your budget. Your motherboard looks fine to me, you won't see any visual difference in performance between 2.0 and 3.0 pcie.
