My graphics card has been overheating for some time now very quickly. I tried replacing the thermal paste and checking on it to make sure that is well coated and in contact. That slightly improved the rate at which it overheated but overall the graphics card WILL go from 60 C to 100 C in about 15 minutes of playing a modern game within the computer's requirements (Dark Souls 3 in this case). I can also watch youtube videos in high quality to make the computer overheat slowly.
The fan appears to be running normally, but possibly slower than the other fans.
I tried dusting out everything with compressed air in case it was gunk or anything. The fans all seem cleaned out and spinning at decent rates.
The computer, when overheating, blips and gives me a full second or two of my entire desktop/game/youtubevideo/wwhatever frozen. It even is blipping now and making me wait to see my typed words because I played a little DS3 just now to confirm.
What are possible causes of this problem, and what can I do to replace the fan or otherwise improve the cooling of the GPU when it overheats so quickly?
Card: AMD Radeon HD 6800
Processor: AMD FX-8120 Eight Core Processor 3.10 GHz
