I just switched from a nvidia 550ti to a 950 and while trying to install the drivers my pc shutoff, no blue screen, just power off, so i tried again for a while, uninstalled reinstalled, restored to an earlier point of windows 7, reinstalled windows 7, still shutting off when i try to install drivers. please help, I'm very frustrated

Update: Trying to consolidate the information so
MOBO- ASrock FM2A75 Pro 4
CPU - AMD A8-5500 APU with radeon onboard graphics
GPU - EVGA 950 sc+ (bought refurbished from newegg)
PSU - Raidmax RX630SS
Samsung EVO SSD, and a 1 TB WD hdd
16 gigs of ram, between 4 4gb sticks, 2 of 1 brand, 2 of another.

Also, booted into safe mode and installed the driver, and then it worked for a while, Then i took the card out and put it back in, and it worked for a while, there appears to be something that looks like paper after its been in the wash or maybe gum and paper, on one of the chips on the card that cannot be easily removed. My PC was working fine for about 4 years before i swapped the cards.

Update 2: I believe it has something to do with just after a certain amount of time, although it may also have to do with running intensive processes, the PC crashed again whenever I loaded up skyrim, at varying times, but not getting past just a flash of the game actually being loaded, sometimes it happens when i press install or update something, sometimes doesn't. But definitely will just turn off if left, as i just left it on, just on the desktop, not doing anything, and it crashed some time while i was having dinner.

When it crashes, what it does is immediately turn off, just as though the power has gone out. When it turns on it says the whole unexpected shutdown thing, then says safe mode and such or start as normal, just as though i had held down the button or taken out the power cable.

UPDATE 3: consolidating info again
Situation update, my cpu is currently running at 45-53 degrees c, and has been idling for a bit, currently al that is running is the temperature detection stuff, using up relatively little cpu. other than that my pc is at give or take a few degrees 30 c, is this healthy? Bear in mind I'm idling right now. I'm using both my motherboards software and my processors software, processor giving off 54 now, slowly rising. mobo giving 44.

UPDATE: CPU program slowly but steadily rising temps, while mobo stays about the same

UPDATE 2: CPU program now reads 56-57, while mobo reads 42

UPDATE 3: I failed to mention that i believe that the CPU is giving core temps, i also have a box fan next to my PC

UPDATE 4: Consolidating info. New PSU corsair CX-M Series CX650M 650W 80 PLUS, that didn't fix the problem. I'm having an error where my PC says "nvidia web helper "program can't start because MSVCR120.dll is missing, try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"" My current working theory is a software issue on my HDD, as that was the only thing not affected by the resetting of windows.

Windows update troubleshooter says i have error 0x8007000D(2017-06-02-T-07-48-47P) and "Cryptographic service components are not registered" It also says service registration was missing or corrupt but that was fixed, and that problems installing recent windows updates are fixed twice.

UPDATE 5: I have run every test, it doesn't crash during a night of memtest 86, I swapped out the graphics card, it crashed with the 950 with and without drivers, and it crashed with the 550 without drivers, i could not get to the point of installing drivers, nor do i think it will yield a different result. I have contacted ASrock, and will update with their response. The current working theory is a motherboard issue. At which point, I should honestly just call it that and buy a new computer, considering i'm 3/4 of the way there. User rcald2000 suggests that other users have similar issues with this board, we are hoping that asrock will confirm or deny that this is a known issue.

UPDATE 6: Went to office max to have it looked at by them, they "cleaned it" (i saw no differences) and they also said i had some hard drive issues, they offered to fix it for 180 dollars, which I found to be ridiculous. I found out that i was running from an OEM windows install (i believe thats the correct term, it was specifically meant for an old dell but had never given me trouble before.) I installed a proper microsoft ISO and it yielded no different results, and crashed when i tried to install the driver for my graphics card (also around the time windows was trying to update, coincidence?) and I haven't tried again since.

Alright,
MOBO- ASrock FM2A75 Pro 4
CPU - AMD A8-5500 APU with radeon onboard graphics

My PC was working fine for about 4 years before i swapped the cards. But as i type this, I now realize it may have been windows update that just did that last power off thing, didn't look like it though.

UPDATE - almost entirely sure it wasn't windows update, so still no clue what causes the crashes

Current working theory, is cpu overheating, my cpu has faulty temp sensors though so its hard to be sure
I have a box fan next to my pc right now, but it still turns off before i can get an accurate reading from the software provided by amd, I'll update if i get anything else

That might something to do with you PSU, You might be getting not enough power from your PSU that may be causing it to shut down. This is just a theory. Before you buy, try using another PSU from someone you know. If it will still shut off, then it might not be the PSU.

[Edit]: Are you using UPS for your system? Have you had any experience that you computer shut-off because of power cut?

I don't really have access to another psu, and i have no clue what ups is

EDIT: I don't have a ups,

only when the actual power goes out at my house

UPS is an Uninterruptible Power Supply Unit. It is recommendable to have one for your PC specially when your place have power cut regularly so you could shut down your PC safely in case of power cuts.

[Edit]: Prevent sudden shut-off as much as possible of your PC because it can damage the overall health of your PC specially the processor, GPU and motherboard. AMD processor tend to be really sensitive with sudden power cut offs and it can easily be damage by that. I suggest you should get a UPS. though this might not help with the current issue you have but at least it will prevent future damage to your system.

I most definitely don't have one, and i don't exactly have regular power outages, but it has happened before

I have just read that raidmax psu s suck, and that i should just not, do you think it would help with my current issue to get a new PSU

It might be since the problem occurred when you added the GPU. Your overall wattage have increase significantly and maybe your PSU cannot supply the recommended wattage. I suggest you should buy a more reliable True rated PSU with a minimum 550wattage or more. Also, a 40$ UPS would not hurt so much.

I will most likely do that but i think i may be having cooling issues too. I'm currently unsure, read the situation update for more specific details

My PSU also says it can do 630 w, whether thats true, i don't know. but thats what it says

I am indeed referring to the thermal margin

I have no idea what changed, i turned off the box fan, and eventually ran skyrim, (consistently crashed my pc earlier) and now it is fine, it may have to do with me under clocking my GPU. but either way, it works i guess. I will post again in the morning. No longer concerned about overheating. My temp is just fineish. I will look at getting another psu and maybe a ups. Will follow up in the morning

Good morning everyone! My computer is failing to configure window updates, don't know if thats related. However my pc shut of again very soon after it got started, I'm beginning to suspect that it is not temperature and may be PSU related, I will most likely head to a couple of stores that might have psus in stock. If you have any new suggestions please let me know.

UPDATE: This is the PSU i'm going to buy. http://

Whether or not its the issue i figure its a more reliable one and thats just smart to have

thats fine, overkill for what you have though

get the 550w model

Honestly its a 5 dollar difference in store so may as well? buying it from best buy so i can test it today and return it if its not the problem

that's fine then, you should be able to swap it into a future build

Alright, I've purchased it, i'll pick it up in a couple of hours and install it and let you know how it works, it's returnable so if it doesn't fix the issue i'll just return it, or i may keep it ill decide if that happens.

Relatively irritated at this point, as i was just logging on on my pc to make a celebratory post, and all of a sudden poof, turns off. so it was not the power supply. I'm about to try to plug it into the main wall outlet to see if that helps, no idea why it would, but hey, why not. Don't know if i'll return the psu, as it was a needed thing anyways.

UPDATE: Upon reboot my pc said it needed to diskcheck my hdd. Letting that run. It found a few non indexed files and put me back at login screen.

UPDATE 2: Now getting an error from nvidia web helper saying I'm missing MSVCR120.dll, i've gotten that once or twice after i changed the card and installed the driver, and before the PSU upgrade

UPDATE 3: Running memtest for giggles, bout 13 minutes in and no errors, I've also placed an image of jesus and mother mary on top of my computer for added security, also i think i fixed the msvcr120.dll error. I ran microsofts sfc command and found a file by the right name in system 32. also skyrim no longer consistently crashes my pc. I have it plugged into the wall right now. it didn't crash for a while while monitoring it, then gain it did that last night.

My PC has run Memtest for roughly an hour with 0 errors. It has not shut off while running memtest, I've been using solely my MacBook. Current image of meatiest attached.

UPDATE: Still running 2.5 hours no errors.

UPDATE 2: 3 and a third hours and still no crash. It may be something in windows.

UPDATE 3: I made it 3.5 hours with no failures, i passed a full test, i am now going to try running from a linux boot disk. I will tell you how that goes, working theory, something on my HDD is messing everything up. Because that wouldn't be fixed on a reinstall of windows

UPDATE 4: My linux boot disk isn't working for whatever reason. I has always worked in the past, but oh well. I'm currently in windows 7 seeing if jesus is doing the trick (or plugging it into the wall)

UPDATE 5: Still getting the nvidia web helper "program can't start because MSVCR120.dll is missing, try reinstalling the program to fix this problem" I'm running troubleshoot windows update right now to see if i can fix my pc's inability to update.

Windows update troubleshooter says i have error 0x8007000D(2017-06-02-T-07-48-47P) and "Cryptographic service components are not registered" It also says service registration was missing or corrupt but that was fixed, and that problems installing recent windows updates are fixed twice.

I have attempted a fix for the error and will see if it works.

UPDATE 6: Computer crashed again. still no closer to the answer Trying windows startup repair from the install disk. Most of my crap is saved on the secondary drive, if startup repair yields no return, i will unplug HDD and see if it still crashes

UPDATE 7: Startup repair yields no returns, and detects no issue, most likely due to my lack of errors starting up. running memory diagnostic tool from my install disk.

Memory diagnostics tool has run and it yielded no problems, I'm low-key clueless right now. Aaaaaaaaand it crashed immediately after i logged into my user don't know if it means anything but one of my fans make a funky noise right when it starts but not after, and having just turned on my pc, it sounds like my fans are going a little ham for not running anything

UPDATE: Trying out a new AC cable before i start unplugging hard drives, saving my important stuff off of the hdd in case its a coaster

Update 2: Longest runtime yet with new ac cable, no crash yet. Currently almost done uploading about 8 gigs of music to my google drive

Update 3: Still running strong. About to try to run skyrim, to see if it crashes. However, even if it doesn't my pc was running fine last night but not during the day. so i'll update you in the morning irregardless.

It runs skyrim just fine. Even went into combat. I will update in the morning, or when it crashes, or if i missed a post while updating, I think I'm gonna enjoy some stinking skyrim.
