Would a Geforce 9800 GT or a Radeon HD 3870 work on an Antec BP500U?
On a super tight 20$ budget so a newer card or better PSU is out of the question.
If not what about the 3850, or 9600 GT? Again 20$ budget. So limited to relatively old USED hardware. And aside from those 4 the only other parts I can find within that budget are even older still. (Geforce 6XXX/7XXX, and Radeon X8XX/X1XXX series). I do plan to game but nothing extremely heavy. (No Crysis, Battlefield, etc. Older titles like Fallout NV, and such). Also S-video is a must. Since I want to use it on an old Sony Wega (27inch CRT).

The rest of the system specs are:.
MSI A55M-P33
Athlon II X4 631
320GB Seagate HDD
2x2GB DDR3
Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)
Inside an older Dell Dimension case. (P4 Era).

The specs I see on that power supply show it having one 6 pin pci-ex connector. So you need to limit your choices to cards which only require one or none. In wattage that 500W is enough. I ran some games on an Athlon II X4 645, as long as your expectations are reasonable you can enjoy quite a few games. The 9800 GT is basically the 8800 GT, so maybe you can find a better deal on the older card.

Yeah. I've looked at the cables. The thing that worries me is the dual 18amp 12v rails. I had a similarly rated Antec VP450 before and it refused to work with a HD 4850. (Dual 18amp 12v rails, just like the BP500U etc). So I'm a little worried. And not really. The closest I found in price when searching 8800GT was a 8800GS. Which I'd rather avoid.
And yeah I have gamed on it before. But I had a GT 730. (Which died). lol

I've found HD 3870 for 17.50$, and a MSI 9800 GT for 19.99$

True. Though that unit was brand new off of amazon. Did handle a 7900GS though. lmao
