Graphics card to fit my budget

Okay so over the past couple of days I have been set on the MSI R9 390 8GB Graphics Card. The problem is that you can find this card in stock almost anywhere. So i looked into the GTX 970 which seems to be a competitor with that card.

I don't know alot about Nvidia other than the fact that the brand is a little more expensive compared to AMD. So My question is: Should I buy an MSI GTX 970? If not, what card is better to get with a max budget of 350$?

the 390 is exactly the same as a 290 just overclocked at the factory


just look for a 8gb version of the 290 with a nice cooler and overclock it yourself enjoying the savings

MSI R9 290X Gaming 4G, nice cooler.


Upgrading the thermal paste with something nice like mx-4 also helped. XD

Im actually playing TPP right now as well, what settings do you play on and do you possibly know your FPS? Or does it run smooth on higher setting?

r9 390 all the way. its a bit power hungry but the performance is really awesome(beasts the gtx 970 at 1080p and above). GCN architecture is future proof enough to max out dx12 title in the near future with help of its async shaders.

r9 290x is my personal favorite. Sjould run all games at Ultra 1080 (some 1440p) at 30-60+fps.
