Graphics Card with 1 6-pin and 1 8-pin connector.

I am looking at this Gtx 960:

I ordered it, but it hasn't shipped yet, I just noticed the 6-pin and 8-pin connections, My PSU has 2x 6-pin.

I know that you can get adapters, but I need to know based this info if there is any config that will make this card work in my system?

I am not here for Power guidlines, as Dell has approved the 960 for my Alienware, but obviously brand by brand there will be differences. I have ordered the card from Amazon for an aftermarket upgrade.

Stock Gtx 960 on nVidia's site says it's max draw is 120w, this config with 4gb and the 2 fans could raise this a bit, but the max my PSU will allow the graphics card is 175w, so that should be no issue.

Need to know if I should cancel and look for 6 pin only cards?

I am intentionally undercutting with the 960, There are numerous people using 970's with little to no problems. I just need to know if this can be solved with an adapter on one of the 6 pins.

that gigabyte doesnt take a 6+8 pin , it takes 2 x 6 pins,the info on the site is wrong.

I do agree however with maxalge that you would be far better with a blower style card in an x51 case

I'm not concerned with heat issues on such a low end 900 series. 970+ is where people have heating issues in this case. If I could have found a 4gb version I would have bought it, but the ones I saw that would even fit were only 2gb. Case limitation on length is 9.5" and most of the blowers I found were around 10+.

Anyways, I fell asleep before these last two answers and they shipped it, lol.

I can clearly see on the pictures on both Gigabytes and Amazon's sites that it does have a 6 and an 8. Though after a bunch of tech reading it turns out that you usually can plug a 6 into an 8 or just get an adapter. The 6 is technically rated at only 75w but there is a consensus among tech nerds that that is a ridiculous limitation of what they could be doing.

Oh well, I guess I'll find out when it gets here.

I've had the g1gaming & wind force (same PCB) models in my hands at different times & they both had twin 6 pins (not a 8 pin in sight)

I have no idea what those pics are on most of the sites unless GB released a new revision with an 8+6 pin for some weird & nonsensical reason.
Why on earth would you need a theoretical 300w power feed for a card that is locked at a max of 160w!!??

Case in point g1 gaming review , twin 6 pins clearly shown.

IMO the pics on the GB site are of the comparative 970 cards not the 960.

You are right, just got the card and it has 2 6-pins, going to have to have a word with both sites about the pictures.
