So this is my third graphics card my third hdmi cord, and the graphics card lights up and spins but i get no video display (the first 2 the fans wouldn't even spin), am i doing something wrong since i dont have a operating system on there and since i thought the hardware was plug and play? Is there something you need to do to get the video playback to show? Please help. I have connected the 2 8 pin connectors, and it works i just dont get anything for display. I dont know if i need a certain disc to get it to work so i can install the operating system or what.

With the red CPU fault light on the system not going anywhere. As a tech have start crossing off parts and issues. As posted can have. Bios issues...a dead short....bent pins under the CPU...bad power supply. If you think it a bios issue get rid of the mb for one that will run your CPU out of the box. Or if there a local computer store or micro center see if the can help you flash the bios. May be helpfully pay small fee let local tech drop in and older CPU and update the mb for you. If your in high school ask for help in the tech class. In collage there. May be tech class or free it help guy. Also call asus up ask them to walk you through USB updating.
May be a issue renaming the bios file that we dont know of.
I have a fresh new build so i can't even get that far, I have no display for the card itself and I can't tell if my computer is even booting cause ASUS never send a speaker with there motherboard since its all led lights.

Yes, and my 6950 works fine, I'm on it right now. Just like his, I get a red light (on my new 7970), the fans go, but no signal through my HDMI. Blue screen on TV, etc. Not to hijack his thread or what not, but maybe the solution could help us all. I've tried two different cords, and all types of stuff. Was about to send the card back and try another.

If The Red CPU light is on. Check that the eight pin power cable on he edge of the mb is connected. Make sure the mb standoffs were used. Try the mb on a table to rule out a short. A lot of times the io shield can short the mb out. Check under the CPU for bent pins. Look on the mb the serial number lable the last four numbers is the bios rev. Try one ram dimm to rule out ram issue. Pull the gpu...see if the fault light for gpu comes on. Check that the CPU cooler not shorting out to the bottom of the case tray.

My motherboard's gpu light doesn't come on when i start it without the graphics card, and neither does the RAM led, but no matter what i do the cpu red led is on, i pre-tested everything before i put it all together and it seemed to work fine.

Yes, i tried everything that every thread has done, I'm seriously about to rip this freaking thing apart and ship it back. NO ONE IS LISTENING. I dont have visual in order TO INSTALL A OPERATING SYSTEM, i am not ripping back out my motherboard, just to "test" it, but yes i have tried it with just the gpu, no light, without the gpu, no light, without ram, no ram light, with ram, no ram light, without cpu, red light, with cpu, red light. I'm freaking frustrated, I've asked DOZENS of people if they had problems with a setup like this and the answer was still no, so why now that i put everything freaking does it not work.
