[SOLVED] Graphics Cards Confusion

Hi all,

I have got a HP Z2 Tower G4 Workstation - i7, 16gb Ram and I use it for doing AutoCAD work and 3D modelling on solidworks, not gaming and not really bothered about using it for gaming. I need a graphics card as this is where the PC is becoming slow as the built in GPU is running at 95% when using AutoCAD.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of graphics cards, I haven't a clue what I need but would like to stick to the more budget solution.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Solution
GPU prices have actually started to come down and you can find some less powerful ones for fair prices that would suite your needs. One issue may be the power supply in your computer if it has the necessary PCIE power cables for a higher end gpu, might be something you wanna check out before deciding on a gpu.

I would recommend something like a 1660 which are going for around 350 on ebay or the 1660 super which is around 450. You can check out some cad benchmarks on which would better suite your needs.

There are also 5500xt 4gb for reasonable prices like around 230 on ebay.

If you have micro center around you, I would suggest checking out what they have and see if they have any budget gpus that fit your needs.

Solution
Workstation card prices aren't as badly effected. Older quadros and firepro cards should be pretty easy to come by. Some of them are quite low power as well.

Really need a budget to work with though.

Quadro K420 going for $56, barely a GPU, but better than integrated graphics.

HP branded K600 for $100.

Pascal P620, getting closer to modern times...

A few K2200 in there if you want 4GB of VRAM. And you can always keep going up the stack, but then some of the cheaper gaming GPUs do start to make sense.

Forgot to mention the workstation cards that Eximo posted, but I definitely recommend taking a look at the options he mentioned.

But I would instead suggest maybe looking for some newer quadros or firepros.
