Which company make the better graphics cards?
With cheaper computer builds, AMD cards are usually used instead of Nvidia GPUs.
I feel that Nvidia graphics cards are the most popular when it comes to more expensive, more powerful PC builds though. I've also heard that some video game companies tend to favor one company over the other, therefore optimizing their games better for one company than the other.
Can someone tell me the pros and cons of the GPUs from both companies?

That's a very vague question, read some reviews, look at some benchmarks, I've no idea about your specs or range, what you want to use the GPU for, like only gaming or for 3D modelling too. Nvidia tends to be more power efficient with less driver issues, while AMD tends to give good performance for less price, usually. But that has changed with the arrival of 900 series.

Depends on the price. But all in all for me Nvidia is better because:
1) Better performance (most of the time)
2) No problems with drivers
3) More power efficient
4) Shadowplay Utility (for recording gaming videos without massive fps drop)

Their 2 new cards are awesome: GTX 970, GTX 980, especially first one. It is first time when you can buy such a performer for a reasonable price.

They isn't much difference, as they only send the chipset to a manufacturer or brand to modify or design it. This is what Nvidia has told me.

Nvidia cards are popular as they have an excellent recording software that comes with it— Shadowplay. The held back of Nvidia is mainly its price as you can save $50 or so if you go with an "equivalent' AMD card.

AMD are great and supposedly better than Nvidia to play in Battlefield 4. Benchmarks has kind of proven this, but it is also mainly the setup the user has.

Both brands only provide the chipset so it is up to manufacturer to design it.

Gaming.

I am going all out on my new pc but are going with the new amd 295x2 cause it has better cooling and i am not spending stupid money on a titan z, if i were i would just run crossfire with two 295x2s, more gddr5 and better cooling
