Hello all. I am here looking for advice on what to, or if I even can, upgrade my daughters graphics card.

Intel Core i5-2400 cpu @ 3.10GHz
64bit operating system, windows 10
Geforce GT 730 graphics card.

I bought her a game for her birthday that she is currently unable to play because of her graphics card being so weak. I tried updating it to make sure and everything that I have done and tried points to her having the most recent update that card can handle. Which leaves me with one of two alternatives. Buy her a new computer or try to install a new graphics card. My main dilemma is that I do not know what I could possibly update that card to. It is a small card when I compare it to my own, and I dont want to try and purchase something that is going to turn out to be too big for the system and not even fit. Hence the research. If there is anyone here that is knowledgeable enough about the GT 730, and what it might be upgraded to, I would appreciate a hint or lead that would enable me to make an informed decision on what my next steps should be.

Thank you in advance for the help. I appreciate it.

Despite the system being old it will be pin compatible with anything you'd want to buy. What you need to make sure of is how big the case is so that it will physically fit and most importantly what the power supply is. These should be the only two limiting factors for what you could get.

use can you run it and see what it report for minimal needs on game so after you could go to middle or max requirements parts if system meet them .
That app nowadays really only settles to reading and matching between minimum specs and your system's specification. Its fine for a rule of thumb but at its essence its still pretty flawed.

The 2400 could handle some lower end used cards recommendation like GTX 1060 6GB, 1650 Super, and RX 5600XT, but I personally would go for an entire computer if you're economically capable. The performance floor would be raised pretty high.
