Graphics design rendering software for realistic lighting

Hey everyone,

I had an idea for a small business where I create 3D models of custom PCs for customers (just to make some easy side cash). I was going to use sketchup for the models (I’m very good at it, so I’d made the models in there).

I was looking for software in which I could apply custom textures, intricate reflections, and my own lighting to surfaces, say RGB fans. Could I do this in blender, and how hard would it be?

I've never heard of visualization for PCs (except product images and demos for system integrators), but it sounds interesting. Blender Cycles is a highly regarded, physically-based, unbiased render engine, so I would recommend it for what you're trying to do. There are plenty of people who would help you along with the lighting and shading.
