Hi I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card on my sons computer. Unfortunately it's an hp with a 180w internal power supply which I really don't want to be swapping if I can help it. It's currently running a 2gb Radeon r7 240 which according the the website recommends a 300w power supply at least. I've been looking at the msi 750 it low profile as a straight swap but I've been searching the web again and again and I'm seeing conflicting reports on whether this would work or not.

Can anyone help me?

This is the graphics card I'm looking at

Many thanks

The 750Ti has a 75w TDP if i remember correctly, which means it would still require atleast 300w when combined with your other components. The R7 240 only has a 30w TDP so i wouldn't recommend the upgrade at all. You are better off picking up something like a Corsair CX430w Power Supply for £40. This will allow you to easily run a 750Ti and still have some room to breathe.
