Going from the A to the Plus to the Hero you gain primarily various ports and header things like USB, SATA,etc then the Hero also is a little better component wise for OCing and DRAM handling plus has great sound, can compare the three here:

What's the major difference between the ASUS Hero vs. Z87-A and Z87-Plus? How do they compare to that of the Gigabyte ud4h, the G.1 Sniper5, or the ASRock Fatality Z87 Killer? These seem to be the boards I hear the most about (excluding MSI because I only hear negative things in general about them).
