Green lines on startup windows 8

No it got to 25 percent rebooted and screen stayed black, left it on overnight but no change so I turned it off and on and got the green lines that just stay there, I would post a pic but not sure how. What do you mean physically move it?
 
You can take a picture of it and save it to a site such as Imgur.com, and then copy and paste the link here in the forum.

By moving the screen, I think he means open or close the screen slightly to see if there is possibly a bad (loose) connection between the screen and the motherboard.
 


Do you actually see an image but there are green lines on the screen with it, or you only have a black screen with green lines? Does the system boot OK to the BIOS screen?

It is possible that Windows 10 does not have the drivers for your graphics chip. Is this an older laptop? What version of Windows did you previously have on the laptop?

As asked above, can you get to the BIOS screen?

Or it could just be a coincidence that the video display happened to go out when you installed Windows 10, but I doubt that.
